Frequently Asked Questions

12 Volt TV's

Q: Will your 12 volt televisions work after June of 2009 when the analog to digital transition happens?

A: Yes they will. All of our 12 volt televisions have built in ATSC and NTSC tunner.

Q: What is the best aspect ratio to look for in a TV?

A: That depends on what you watch the most. If you mainly watch over the air broadcast then you would want a tv with a 4:3 aspect ratio. If you watch a lot of movies you would want a TV with 16:10 aspect ratio. Some VHS, most DVD's and most movie chanels (HBO, Showtime, Starz. . .) use a widescreen format that are better viewed on 16:10 aspect ratio.

Q: How long will my fully charged 12 volt battery last running a 12 volt tv?

A: There really is no exact answer to this. Our LCD 12 Volt TV's draw around 3 amps. If you know the aH (amp hour) rating of your battery you can then divide by 3 and you'll have a very close idea.

12 Volt Coolers

Q: Can I put ice in your 12 volt coolers?

A: You should never put ice in a 12 volt cooler. These are electrical devices and can be damaged by excessive moisture.

Q: How do I clean my 12 volt cooler?

A: Dampen a cloth or sponge with warm water and a mild detergent. Wipe down the interior surfaces and then repeat using just a dampened cloth or sponge to remove the soap. Should you decide to use a spray bottle, it's best to select mist mode on the spray nozzle and be very careful to not spray the cooling fan area.

Q: How long will it take to process my order and get it shipped out?

Q: What if The Carrier Arrives and The Package Looks Mistreated?

ATSC & NTSC

Q: What is ATSC & NTSC?

A: ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) is a group which defines the standards for digital television transmission in the United States and many other counties.
ATSC is the digital replacement for the earlier analog standard, NTSC. The ATSC standards are created by the Advanced Television Steering Committee, whose charter members are the Electronic Industries Association (EIA), the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), the National Cable Television Association (NCTA), and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE). The ATSC standards include high definition television (HDTV), standard definition television (SDTV), data broadcasting, multi-channel surround-sound audio, and satellite direct-to-home broadcasting. In addition to the United States, ATSC is also used in Canada, South Korea, Argentina, and Mexico.ATSC uses 8VSB (8-level Vestigial Side-Band) modulation, MPEG-2 compression., and AC3 audio encoding.

A: NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) is the standard for analog television transmission in the United States and many other counties worldwide.
NTSC was developed in 1953 by the National Television System Committee. Alternatives to NTSC were developed later, including PAL and SECAM. NTSC provides 482 lines of vertical resolution and 16 million colors. NTSC transmits 525 lines, but some lines are used for sync, vertical retrace, and closed captioning. NTSC delivers 29.97 frames per second. NTSC does this by delivering 59.94 interlaced half-frames per second. Interlacing is a technique of alternating the transmission of even lines and odd lines to raise the effective resolution without increasing bandwidth utilization. NTSC has an aspect ratio of 4:3.
