My wife and I have always liked to travel. Sometimes we would pack a tent, other times we would rent a hotel room. Hotel rooms can be pretty expensive, especially if you’re traveling to a specific concert or event. Tents are convenient because they are very portable and campsites are relatively cheap. The only problem with a tent is the weather. Now we wouldn’t plan trips on weekends that we knew the weather was going to be bad, but the weather is so unpredictable. One day I was flipping through the classified section of my local newspaper and I found an old R.V. for sale. My wife liked the idea of
saving the money for hotel rooms and no longer having to sleep on an air mattress worrying about the weather.
It was listed as outdated/fixer-up but the price was reasonable so I went for a look and bought it. It ran well and didn’t look to bad from the outside. I knew I wanted to modernize the inside though. Before our first trip I replaced most of the interior bedding and such. I also added a Commercial GPS Navigation unit. For my R.V. I decided on the WorldNav Truck Routing 3.5" GPS Navigation system. I’m not so young anymore, and modern technology often confuses me, but I caught on to using the unit pretty quick. It allowed me to program my vehicle specifications, destination and stops I planned to make on the way, and only gave me roads I would be able to travel in such a large vehicle. It made the trip a lot easier and faster.
After the first vacation we took it became very apparent that we would need to add a few more things to our wonderful home away from home. Staying entertained during the day wasn’t a problem, but once we had done all of our planned activities for the day and were back at the R.V. for the night we realized the radio just wasn’t enough for us. Before we took our next trip my wife insisted that I purchase a television. I went one step further and simply purchased the Skyworth 12 Volt Television 15.6" Wide Screen LCD TV/DVD Combo. Now we can watch movies or TV when we are relaxing at the end of the day. Purchasing the R.V. seems to have worked out well for us. It only needed a little technology update to be perfect.
