GPS & Mount for My Motorcycle

Hello fellow customers of 12volt-travel, I’m Alex and this is a short story of my experience with a product purchased here.

It all started on a camping trip last year with a newly purchased Super Sport Touring motorcycle, a 2011 Kawasaki Concours, against the better judgment of my S.O. We loaded up our side-cases and set out, every few miles pulling over as we got closer and closer to our destination.

After returning home I decided that I’d love to spend more time out on the bike on longer trips. I mean, who doesn’t want to go exploring new places and states, seeing what our nation has to offer? In light of my urge to explore and travel we found this site useful for many supplies our local travel center didn’t have. The wife suggested finding a GPS for the motorcycle so we didn’t have to stop as frequently to check for directions, which I thought a great idea, so on to searching I went.

While I didn’t have much luck finding a GPS mount that suited my tastes I did find a universal portable electronic mount that used a suction cup. Naturally being an all around handyman, adapting this to work with my gas tank was an easy task and I set about it immediately.

I ended up with 6 neodymium magnets, some clear marine adhesive and some fabric. Using adhesive I secured the magnets to the bottom of the suction cup system, covered them with some fabric, and voila. I now had a mountable, removable, adjustable GPS mount for my motorcycle. All and all it has worked fine. The windshield and front faring keeps the wind down to a minimum on the tank area so no worries about it blowing away!

Hope you enjoyed my story, and I hope that it provides some inspiration for others to be innovative and inventive!
