I have always been a deeper sleeper and have never been a morning person. Combine the two and it’s almost impossible to get me up in the morning. I can sleep through anything. There are times when I have to get up early to pick up a load or make a delivery. When I’m home it’s not too bad because my wife doesn’t cut me any slack. She’ll come in with a bucket of ice water if I don’t get up on time.
The main time I have a problem is when I’m on the road sleeping in my truck and I need to be up early. Then I am completely dependent upon myself to get up and be ready to drive. I didn’t think I was going to find an alarm clock that would ever wake me up.
After having the boss threaten my job again for being late I decided to try and find a solution to my alarm issue. I had an alarm that made you push multiple buttons to shut off, like a combination lock. I had an alarm you actually had to stand on to shut off. I even had an alarm set on the dash of the truck thinking this would help. Although they all would eventually wake me up, it never lasted long. The minute I turned the alarm off I would be sleeping again. The alarms became part of a routine and therefore wouldn’t keep me awake.
During one stay at a truck stop in Missouri I talked to a fellow trucker over dinner. He said getting up was always a problem for him until he bought a Screaming Meanie alarm clock.He showed me the little alarm clock and I was thinking there was no way that was waking me up. Then he set the alarm off. The minute I heard it I about had a heart attack. I didn’t expect it to be so loud it scared five years off my life. Needless to say I had to have one. I found the alarm clock on this site for a great price and received it a couple days later. I haven’t had a problem with sleeping in ever since and I recommend this alarm clock to anyone that has trouble waking up in the morning.
